New Ubuntu Server 7.10_G.U.I.

I have installed ubuntu server 7.10 on a pentium 3,expert install,no problems,configured no problems during set up and install to hdd,all ok.
But have tried to install the G.U.I.process with out success.
$ sudo taskel install ubuntu-desktop : from help files on disk
$ sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop: from reference on here
But have had no success in in installing_loading the G.U.I. process
Is There anything else that can be done / or suggest what i may be able to do.

Hello Barry:

first open up your sources.list file

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

delete everything and please paste the below:

Save the source list (cntrl + X and then Y)

and run the following command:

sudo apt-get update

and then run the command:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

to install ubuntu desktop

Thankyou for your prompt reply: very trying with your solutions,
however to no avail,at this stage.[Command line only]
will keep on trying,and researching with these listed sites you have provided above,
