Hi andrew-woodhead,

Immediately after booting the screen start flickering and many details are keep on running/moving upward. this continues for around 8 to 10 minutes. then suddenly the screen will become black. Nothing can be seen on the screen, whereas the system will still be ON. Then I will switch OFF and then ON the system, and without pressing any key it will go to the GRUB menu automatically and ask for boot options. after selecting appropriate option, the system (screen) will again start flickering and however, this time i can log into my user ID.
Kindly help!

If you hold SHIFT immediately after hitting the power button, you will see GRUB. Is this OK? If you select the Memtest86+ does it pass OK?

Hi andrew-woodhead,
Thanks for immediate advise. When i hold SHIFT key immediately switch on the power, I can see GRUB. it is quite OK. Through CD I ran Memtest 86 V 4.3.7 the output is " PASS COMPLETE, NO ERRORS, PRESS ESC TO CONTINUE.

The screen flickering may be owing to the Graphic card driver issues (however you are the best judge) and based on this I request you to teach me on HOW TO UPGRADE THE Intel® Graphics Drivers for Linux i 915 and (Kernel driver in use: i915)
3D controller [0302]: NVIDIA Corporation GF117M [GeForce 610M/710M/820M / GT 620M/625M/630M/720M] [10de:1140] (rev a1) Kernel driver in use: nouveau
)
hope this information would be sufficient to find out a solution for me.

If your system is one with two graphic cards, then you have to use additional software like https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

Can you help with this problem?
