The best way is through terminal.

You need package "boinc-client" to run BOINC projects, and it's good to install "boinc-manager" so you can manage projects throguh GUI

So type:

sudo apt-get instal boinc-client boinc-manager

Boinc-manager icon should appear in Accessories part of the GNOME menu. Hope this helps. :)

If you use GNOME (default environment for Ubuntu) you should open Terminal from Accesories submenu. Then you type "sudo apt-get instal boinc-client boinc-manager"

If you already boinc-client (the core component for running boinc projects) then "sudo apt-get install boinc-manager" is enough.

After the installation finishes, you can close Terminal and you should see boinc icon in Accessories submenu. Clicking on it will start graphical manager for boinc where you can see projects you are running, add new projects etc.

The best way for the newbie is to install packages via Synaptic Package Manager. Find it under System -> Administration menu.
