How can I remove Firefox extension HTTPS Finder 0.91?

Asked by Alberto

Hello techies,
as I had my Firefox updated to rel 43.0 (around December 19th), HTTPS Finder 0.91 extension was disabled because it’s not verified for use in Firefox anymore, Firefox said.
As you can imagine:
1. I could wait for a future, minor Firefox update that can fix this problem, or
2. I could remove HTTPS Finder 0.91.
There is no Remove button, Firefox techies said, because I installed it via Ubuntu Software Center and not via Firefox Extension manager.
(I tried and opened hidden file extensions.json using Scratchpad, as they told me, but I felt this is out of range for me, I’m not that clever.)
Then I tried to remove it using Ubuntu Software Center, but it didn’t work.
I deselected the check box, clicked Apply Changes, USC did NOT ask for authentication and chewed a while. Afterwards HTTPS Finder looked regularly removed as its check box was still deselected, but when I launched Firefox the extension was still there, disabled.
I closed USC, re-opened it and HTTPS Finder looked still installed as its check box was selected.

Did I make something wrong?
(Or should I wait for a minor, future Firefox update?)
Many thanks and regards
Alberto
