Nvidia GeForce 5200 PCI card giving Error code +0x7c/0x90

Asked by Eric

I have a HP Compaq d220 Microtower Desktop PC, i also have a Nvidia GeForce 5200 PCI card in it.

Everytime i try and boot the pc up using the Nvidia card i get an error code +0x7c/0x90 during the boot process from the CD.

The orange bar moves about 3 lines down the bar and then halts but if i change to the on board i can do the full install and install the card within ubuntu.

The issue is i can use the card if i set it as the default within ubuntu, but if i set it as default in the bios (even after setting default in ubuntu) i get the same error.

Anyone got any ideas of how to get my system to boot using only the Nvidia?

I am not sure if you have got ubuntu installed, if you do, open a terminal and run the command 'dmesg' and search through this for any information relating to the graphics card. Please then amend this question with any info from there. It will help us find a fix.

Sorry I should have said, set Ubuntu and the BIOS up so you get the error, and then boot into recovery mode through grub. Check for any errors if you can.

Can you help with this problem?
