Asked by chiao woei

Hi there.
I just installed firefox 3.0a8 and i noticed that whenever i run it, it will alway open a pager showing "Index of file:///home/rick" and not only that but i can even browse back all the way to my root directory. Is this dangerous?. BTW, i am using ubuntu gutsy 7.10 gnome version 2.20.1

Hi,

I wouldn't worry about being able to browse your hard drive using Firefox, since the address shown is only local to your machine.

If you want to change your default homepage, click on "Preferences" under the "Edit" menu in Firefox. When the Preferences window appears, under the option "Main" there should be a text box labelled "Home Page" that you can change to whichever home page you wish.

The default is: file:///usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/locales/index-en_GB.html (the last bit should match your Firefox locale)

Regards,

Stuart
