I was previously running Windows xp pro then I installed Xubuntu 7.10 and both OS' work fine..but would just want to know how to run both windows xp and Xubuntu.

Yes, no problem - it's possible to have two operating systems on one computer. many people have a dualboot (Windows and Ubuntu).

If you're talking about being able to switch back and forth between the two without rebooting you'll need a virtual machine. There are a couple out there for you to choose from (some free, some $$) Try googling Virtual Machine.

Qemu is worth a try.
sudo apt-get install qemu
