email permanent delete in Evolution

Asked by Peter Hurst

I want to permanently delete messages from email folders without going through the deleted items folder. In other email systems this is accomplished via shift + DEL but that doesn't work in Evolution. For example I want to permanently delete items from the junk folder without having then to go to deleted items and empty that folder.

I am not sure you can use a key combination to permanently delete messages in one go. You can however delete messages in a folder and then right click on the folder where you deleted the messages, e.g. Inbox and then click Expunge. You will be asked if you are sure you want to permanently delete messages and assuming you do then they will be removed from Trash.

OK _ thanks. I can do what I want to do by first unchecking "hide deleted items" in the view menu and then using CTL-E to Expunge the deleted entries. Thanks for your help.
