linux pengin

i keep seeing the linux pengin on the forum pages etc . i have never actualy come across it on any of the aplications on ubuntu 7.10. is it not on ubuntu or what aplication has it. Andrew

I've never seen a application associated with the penguin but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Can you provide a link to what you are seeing?

Well, the penguin is just the Linux mascot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux. On that particular page it looks like the company combined their logo with the penguin as a way to say they are a Linux company.

Linux isn't a company. Linus Torvalds chose a penguin as the mascot because he likes penguins. In Helsinki zoo, one bit him.

so none of the aplications actualy have the linux pengin on them its just a mascot symbol for linux

I never said Linux was a company. However, the page Andrew linked was a company using the penguin as part of their logo. I don't know if any program uses the penguin for anything other than some games that have a penguin in them like supertux, planet penguin racer, tux math, tux typing and some others.
