Is grub.cfg
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="libata.force=noncq"
the only fix at this time?

update. I did try the boot parameters
grub.cfg
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="libata.force=noncq"
but it did not solve all the problems.

I did try moving the partition 1 (20MB) away from sector 0 via live USB & gparted and it resulted in a hung computer. scary.
Rebooting to USB [partedmagic] and running gparted on partition 1 did result in many errors being corrected:
Pass 5: Checking group summary information
Block bitmap differences: +3145728 +(3145730--3145732) ....

so far so good, no noticable data loss
no dmesg errors regarding the SSD.

I do get the odd error when writing grub2 to MBR so I am assuming there some quirk in the SSD even though all badblocks tests etc show no errors.
hope this helps others is they dare to take the same action
