Asked by dartax

Hi!

I saw that in the /var/cache/apt/archives folder, there's up to 1 GB in files .deb...

What happends if i delete them?
What is the function of the /var/cache/apt/archives folder?

Thanks.

Hello dartax:

The packages you have downloaded on to your computer will be cached for future stuff like uninstallation and reinstallation ( In the sense if you uninstall a package and reinstall it again you DONT REQUIRE AN INTERNET CONNECTION )

and those downloaded files will be cached in /var/cache/apt/archives folder

So its recommended NOT to delete the files in that folder..

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.
