install help

im installing ubuntu 7.10 with the installer from the live cd. when it asks you how you want to partition the drive i click on the button on top. now im supposed to tak me to step 5 but it goes directly to step 6. how can i can i go to step 5 to adjust the partition sizes

if yuor doing a guided install theres a slide bar under that option

a manual install should bring up a secondary window where your field prompts are placed

I am installing ubutu 7.1 in a dell vostro. I partition the hard drive by partition magic. When ubutu asked me what partition I want to keep the root and the swap, I selected a 1 GB for swap and a 10 GB for root by changing to / and used as ext3. Everything went through and the installation finished. When I reboot from hard drive, it did not work. I tried to boot from safe mode it said "failed to set xfermode (err-mask=0x40)". What should I do now?
