Cannot get Ubantu to recognise my Epson Perfection V370 scanner using Vuescan, or simple scan.

Asked by Renee Kern

When trying to use my scanner, Epson Perfection V370, with Vuescan edition for, among others, this scanner, or even when I try to use it with Simple Scan, I get the message that the software cannot locate the scanner or no scanner available. The scanner is on and USB attached to computer. I have tried the on/of, detach/attach suggested on Vuescan problems page with no result. I am in no way computer savvy so I did have a computer technician look at the problem with no luck - I think he had a problem with scanners.

How do I find out? As I said, I am not computer savvy, but I can follow instructions if they are given in a way a non-technical person can follow. (When I was young computers put out tickertape).

Sorry to be such a total computing ignoramus, but what command, copied from where, and copied to where? And is this the usual go to edit, copy, paste?

Thanks for your patients.
