Aptdaemon trying to install itself?

Hi, I am new to Ubuntu and am having a problem. I appreciate any insight you can give. For the last two days, software center runs and I get the following message, prompting for my password:

Action: org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-package
Vendor: Apt Daemon

I've done a bit of Googling and can't find much about this. Best I can tell, aptdaemon is a separate app, not part of the OS, that allows non-root users to perform management tasks. And it looks like Aptdaemon is trying to install itself. Is this correct? If so, why is this happening? The last thing I want is software that would make my machine LESS secure. Why would softward center suddenly be prompting me to install this?

I really appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks in advance.

What is the output of:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade

Can you tell me what this command does before I run it? Bear in mind I do not want to install aptdaemon.

I really just need an answer to my question: what is this service and why is it trying to install without me specifically asking for it? There are only a few mentions of it online and everything I read makes it sound like something I don't want. I'm using Ubuntu for security reasons and the last thing I need is something that spontaneously elevates user permissions without a password prompt. Thanks again.
