stopmotion not working on 64bit install

Asked by LEGOManiac

I started a project in September to record the changing fall colours in the valley below where I live. My camera of choice is set to send pictures once per minute and I was using 'stopmotion' to convert that into weekly videos. That was all under 32-bit Lubuntu.

Last Thursday, with the release of Ubuntu 15.10 (Wiley), I upgraded my system and this time decided to go with the 64 bit version installed on a larger SSD (i.e. a clean install).

Everything went surprisingly smoothly and the camera still sends it's pictures.

A week has gone by and I went to create a video of the weeks photos but stopmotion is now crashing on startup. Dmesg reports:
[24766.584830] stopmotion[5618]: segfault at 0 ip 000000000044daea sp 00007fffc98852c0 error 4 in stopmotion[400000+b5000]

I've tried re-installing it to no avail. Is this indicating an incompatibility with 64 bit lubuntu? Is there anything I can do about it?
