usb adapter

Asked by hectorolivera

When I go to System Preferences, my headset gets sound on auto-detection and usb setting. Playing my audio CD responds on Audtodetect, Usb, Via 8237 and ALSA. My headset, however, does not respond to the CD in any fashion. On WindowsXPPro, I can swith between headset and Speaker without any problem. I looked at the subject on the forum and none of the answers relate to my problem. I want to love Linux, in particular Ubuntu, but need more help.

Sincerely,

Hector Olivera

I'm surprised at not getting any responses thus far. Is everyone on holiday?

I understood that CD playback is the issue here.

What you need is most likely DAE (digital audio extraction) supporting cd-player software. Such are known to be at least xmms, kscd and xine. If you change the totem-gstreamer to totem-xine, it'll most liekly do the trick as well.
