Installing Ubuntu is easy:
1. Create an installation CD - burn the CD image with Ubuntu to a CD.
2. Boot from the installation CD.
3. Follow the graphical install (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall).

sorry

more specifically here is a list of place transfer rtate and project compliance for you to make a desicion from or you can download directly at ubuntu

just make sure your bios is in the right order so your "system" can read the disk

iso is just a fancy way to say a picture of the operating system if you have anothe system with roxio or nero you should be able to do this

or hit up a hack shack(computer shop) or the local library for help

the disk is free and you can also order it on the ubuntu home page

peace =]

From where are you going to install Ubuntu? A CD, a folder, an iso file? Please, describe it more in detail.

to install a ubuntu system on a blank or new hard drive

1. at start up enter your operating mainframe or bios this can be done by following the promt displayed

for example f1 f8 f10 or esc or rapidilly pressing the number 8

2 go to the boot option and set the order to cd hard drive floppy or disabled

it should probably be set at hard drive floppy cd or hard drive cd floppy

3 save the setting and exit

4 insert the ubuntu linux iso image into the cd or dvd player

follow the simple setup steps this will go slow it is a cd not a hard drive

5 when you get to the 3 0r 4 step you will choose all which is i believe number 2 if you are just going to use ubuntu

if you want to install another linux such as blag or arc or windows use the guided

you should not need to do a manual install or load partition

hope this helps

peace.

Hello..

You can dual boot windows and ubuntu:

Firstly,I suggest you check out the download site http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Next,Choose a location near you and download the ISO. Then follow the directions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto (Burn your cd at a lower speed say at 4x and check your MD5 sums)

Bit info about MD5 sums:
With an md5 sum you can compare the contents of files. If your .iso file is defect (this can happen when you download it), it's md5sum would be different than that one on the Ubuntu server.

To calculate the md5sum of your image file, you can use a command line tool like http://www.md5summer.org/download.html for Windows (on Ubuntu it's the 'md5sum' command). Then compare the calculated value with the ones in this list http://releases.ubuntu.com/7.10/MD5SUMS.
So if you have the ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso, the calculated value should be d2334dbba7313e9abc8c7c072d2af09c.

If the file has a different md5sum than expected, I would recommend to download that iso again.

Next,Make sure that all equipment is turned on. Do a clean install, delete all the partitions and this time create a separate /home and any others that you think you may need.

Follow the graphical install to install ubuntu on your hard disk: (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall)

Hope it helps

Bhavani Shankar.
