Does it not need to be ran with sudo ?

I haven't had a problem before and I notice the console appears and then it just disappears and the build process stops

Try:

echo "export NO_AT_BRIDGE=1" >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc

Then run:

sudo uck
