What is the output of:

dpkg -l | grep -i trident

Thanks

This returns nothing.

I had to remove the trident drivers that were installed, because of low graphics mode and errors in x. Even the console in ctrl-alt-f1 would not display correctly.

I wonder if there is a problem with the trident drivers in this version of the OS. 12.04 works OK.

You may need to form an xorg.conf file. This is the only way I have seen these GPUs work. They are far from friendly in my experience.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask foonly for more information if necessary.
