booting 14.04 from USB drive does not keeping the history or anything else. Nor can I find a place to direct it to do so.

Asked by Bill Owsley

history gone, tabs gone, favorites gone, installed adobe flash gone. I have to start over each time. unbuntu knows it booted from a USB drive, right? So any and all changes should back on the drive to be used the next time.

If you are using a live-media USB, you would have needed to created it with "persistence" to allow changes to be saved. Not all changes (kernel updates cannot be used for instance). Without persistence, no changes are saved.
If you used the live media to install to another USB, then your install to a USB is a full system, and saves all your changes, just like on a regular disk.

Can you help with this problem?
