    sudo apt-get purge wireshark*

be aware of any messages about removing other programs (you might need) before answering 'Y' .

I ran the above command and this is the output.

I do not know a lot about Ubuntu so do not know what this is or how to run it.

I think I started the download and interrupted it but the computer says it is installed.

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

The following packages are only half configured, probably due to problems
configuring them the first time. The configuration should be retried using
dpkg --configure <package> or the configure menu option in dselect:
 jackd2 JACK Audio Connection Kit (server and example clients)

The following packages have been triggered, but the trigger processing
has not yet been done. Trigger processing can be requested using
dselect or dpkg --configure --pending (or dpkg --triggers-only):

The second command brought up in the terminal...."setting up ubuntu studio".
I do not know what this is or if I even need it but if not, I think we should get rid of it.

    sudo apt-get install -f
    sudo dpkg --configure -a

Then you can try removing wireshark

    sudo apt-get purge wireshark*

be aware of any messages about removing other programs (you might need) before answering 'Y' , if you are unsure hit the no 'N' key and copy-paste the results here.

yes everything seems OK now. wireshark has been completely removed.

'32 not upgraded' means that 32 packages are waiting to be upgraded. So you must give

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade

The "unknown media type" messages are just a warning that can be ignored without further consequences.
There is bug #289592 covering that , without a real solution.

I have not installed and update - mime. I do not even know what it is so I do not know
if I want to play around with this. I do not want to remove or ruin something.

This is a known nonsense message that you receive whenever there is an update on packages that are related to the mime database.

Some persons say that removing the file /usr/share/mime/packages/kde.xml might help, but I would like to recommend just leaving it as it is. Just ignore these messages.
