Mozilla Flash updadte

Asked by davidzaq1

Hello,

I am getting messages that Mozilla has blocked web pages because the flash needs to be updated.
I clicked on the update flash now and it took me to the Adobe Flash page where I proceeded to download a
newer version but I was told that Adobe's last update was flash 11.2 and was no longer sending up-dates for ubuntu.

Is there any way to fix the flash issues?

Thank you
David

Hello and thanks for participating in 'Launchpad Answers'.

There is no newer version officially available for Linux. The latest version is 11.2 as you have found yourself.

If you want to use the latest adobe flash plugin you can install Chromium Browser alongside with 'pepperflashplugin-nonfree'

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
    sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

or you can install Google Chrome browser, you can download the '.deb' package from following link (there is no need for 'pepperflashplugin-nonfree' if you install Chrome instead of Chromium).

https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

Another solution, but this is unofficial, is the Fresh Player Plugin for Firefox. Read more in following link:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I looked at the Fresh Player Plugin for For Firefox.
I do not think this is a good idea. First, it says it is only in an Alpha stage for testing, they said it will only work on a few sites and most importantly, they said it has no security built into it and so, I am not willing to risk my computer to try it.

I do not like Chrome. I have heard it has to many issues with security as well and I do not need viruses or spyware on my computer.

Is there any other possibilities?

Thank you
