Mouse corsor keeps flicking dissapearing

Asked by sebastian f

I've recently upgraded from ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 on the acer aspire and my mouse seems to have downgraded. When on the dash the mouse is fine but once I hover over a program it starts flicking. Forget about using a browser because the mouse is literally having a seizure.

Things I've tried: I am using a monitor due to the screen on my laptop being broken but there are no dual monitors in the display settings. I've tried changing the mouse and the same thing happens. That's pretty much it.

So my question is, is there a method to solidify my
mouse? If so, I'd definitely like to know how.

There is no Ubuntu 10.11. Do you mean 10.04 which is the LTS releases from 2010?

Disable then reinstall the proprietary video driver then reboot. May help.

Wouldnt that screw it up even more? Disabling it meaning stopping the video off completely. I don't know about that

No, you would switch to the open source driver (if you reboot in between). As you are not rebooting, the driver will sit in RAM and be fine. This is exactly the same in Windows.

Can you paste me a quick code to do that? I'm not very familiar with this
