Restore from Win7 backup on Synology NAS

Asked by tutoke

Hello,
I have been using my DS211J for some time for backing up my files on my Dell Studio 7437 (?, Service tag 1GKM1M1), using -if I remember well- Data Replicator. A few days ago I finally agreed to upgrade my Windows 7 to 10 with desastrous results. Nothing is functioning anymore (blue screen with options to hit Enter, F2 or F12, with no result whatsoever). I could not reinstall from the factory Dell Win7 dvd. The only way to talk again to my laptop has been to install Ubuntu Linux (for which I still had a dvd from several years ago): this seems to work fine and it upgraded my os to a recent version. I can now see my DS211J, where I have back-ups and files copies, but I DO NOT FIND OUT HOW TO RESTORE THESE FILES TO MY LINUX-CONTROLLED HD.
Can you maybe assist me in this? That would be very fine; thanks beforehand. Regards.

If you use nmap to scan the storage, what ports are listening?

Thanks a lot.
I have never been very well acquainted with Ubuntu Linux and now -after a few years- even less.
Can you please guide me a little in using "nmap" and reading the results?
Thank you again.

Install nmap

Then run:

nmap ip.address.of.storage

And it will show the listening ports. You will need to know the IP of the storage

Can you help with this problem?
