unable to upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04

Asked by WLB

Hello,
I replaced my hard drive and tried to install 15.04, but was unable to access the boot manager. I tried to install version 14.03 LTS and had the same problem. I was able to install 12.10 and tried to upgrade using the upgrade manager, but that failed. I tried to upgrade to 13.04 from the upgrade notes page and install each upgrade up to 15.04, but it would not upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04. I am completely stuck and have no clue as to what to do next. Please help.

Thank you.

Both 13.04 and 12.10 are EOL.

You may be able to do it using the install CD of 13.04 (if you can find an ISO for it)

Be sure you run a last full backup before starting.

Personally, I ould do a clean install of 14.04 which is LTS and supported til April 2019. It also allows you to upgrade to 16.04 in April next year in one jump as LTS to LTS upgrades are supported.

Hello,

if you want to upgrade from and EOL release (EOL = End Of Life) , you should follow these instructions:

P.S. Don't forget to mark the question as [SOLVED], when done.

Hello,

Thank you for your help in resolving this issue. I have had some time to try to do this upgrade and it is beyond my technical capabilities. I took my machine to a technician to reformat the hard drive and install the latest version.

Thank you again for your help.
