How to multimedia

Now that I have a made the transition on the laptop to 7.10, that will stay as my work comp. I'm changing a new Dell desktop over to 7.10, and having 500gb HD, I want to turn it into a media center type. I want to be able to download DVD's and CD's and be able to use it to watch recorded TV. Is there a single program that will allow me to do this. and then allow me to network through the house?

Maybe MythTV will suite your needs.
