Cannot see 2nd hard drive in nautilus

Asked by Jimmy Fitz

I am a fed up user of Windows and am giving Ubuntu a try. I have really been liking Ubuntu and have been able to solve all problems but this one by scouring the web and sifting through books. I installed a second hard drive and formatted it in Ubuntu in FAT 32 so I could share files on it with Windows computers. Orginally I could see the second hard drive in Nautilus and manually mount it from there. However, I did not want to manually mount the hard drive every time I start the computer so I used gpedit to automatically mount the hard drive to '/home/jimmy/Desktop/disk'. It works, and I can see the folder 'disk' on the Desktop but now the hard drive does not show up in Nautilus. I used the partition editor and it shows the hard drive as mounted to both 'home/jimmy/Desktop' and to '/media/disk'. So my question is; how do I get the second hard drive to show back up in Nautilus? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Remove the entry in the fstab file instructing Ubuntu to mount the drive to the folder on the Desktop and leave the other entry intact. See if that solves your problem.

Thank you for your help but that did not work. I found the answer here. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AutomaticallyMountPartitions . Thanks again.
