history disappeared from evolution mail

Asked by John Seddon

After upgrading to 12.04 and not being able to get Evolution to 'send' mail,I switched to Thunderbird which works fine.Evolution was usable for the past month as a repository for all historical mail prior to upgrade but yesterday the historical mail disappeared. My memos and contacts still appear but is there anyway of restoring the other data? I've searched for a tab that says 'show hidden files' but can't find it anywhere.
Thanks,john

Checked all suggestions in above FAQ and tried different parameters but no luck. I do recall, however, that when the initial loss of messages occurred there was dropdown box that said "ubuntu has experienced an error-do you wish to file a bug report". I clicked 'file bug report' but got no confirmation that report was filed and could not find it in recent bugs filed.
