Cannot clean print heads on Epson Stylus Photo R270

Asked by Marius Groenewald

When I click on the Clean Print Heads button in the printer's properties, I get the following CUPS server error: There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-bad-request'. Same message also for when I click on Print Self-Test Page, as well as Ink/Toner Levels.

Is there a way to do it with just the printer. May be a work around.

Unfortunately no. The printer does not have that functionality on itself. The Windows software does have it you connect the printer to a Windows PC, but it is missing in Linux. I don't know whether it is a problem with CUPS. Even after I installed the Epson driver for Linux, it still does not want to work.

A quick websearch will show you that it can be done on the printer. This is very common

Thanks for the link. At least that solves my main issue. I suppose I will have to create a new request for the Ink/Toner Level issue.
