Ubuntu 14.04.3 install

Ubuntu 14.04.3 sole installation, after restarting for finish installation got black screen . Unable to restart or shut down. Try the boot option:

nomodeset

I tried to install 12.04.5 but had not succes ,so what i did was to repair grub with boot-repair and i was able to install ubuntu 12.04.5. wich is good because now I can to restart and shutdawn the system. Maybe after one year I wil try again Ubuntu 14.04 because seems that Dell Inspiron 3551 do not work to good with Ubuntu 14.04.
