Dell XPS13 (not developer edition) wifi driver on ubuntu 14.04

Asked by NX

Hi there,

I just bought a dell xps13 9343 (It is not the developer edition that preinstalled Ubuntu, because it is no avialbe on my location.) and I have installed the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on it. There is no Ethernet RJ-45 on the xps13 and the wireless connection does not work (the "chose wifi SSID" option is gray)and I can't use the Ubuntu software update to install the driver without internet connection.

I have tried the following:
http://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukbsdt1/HOW10806/en?c=uk&s=bsd&cs=ukbsdt1&l=en
I have installed the packages but the option is still gray. After the installation it shows that the package contains the Broadcom linux wireless driver for BCM4311/4312/313/4321/4332/43224/43225/43227/43228. But the wifi hardware of my xps13 9343 is Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter. (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/catalog/component/pci/14e4%3A43b1/)

http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=M5R51
I downloaded this driver package from dell and install the bcmwl-kernel-source in it, still does not work.

Anyone could help for linux driver of Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter which I could download it on another computer? Sorry for my English. :P

Thanks and best regards.

Nan

Use a wired connection and get fully updated. It will help. Also after the reboot use the additional drivers application and it may just be offered to you

If you run:

sudo lshw -C network | grep -i eth

What is the output?

Hi Andrew,

I have solved my problem with a workaround, used a usb wireless adaptor and it works without any problem.

Thank you for your help.
