Acer Aspire E1531 shuts down every 30 min

My 2year old Acer Aspire E1531 shuts down every 30 minutes. I have UBUNTU 14.10 as the only operating system. I have checked the temperature and ran the RAM and harddrive tests with no problems detected.

14.10 is EOL and not supported in any way. I suggest you upgrade to Vivid (using the install media and boot to that) or by wiping Utopic off the system and doing a clean install of Vivid. You can restore your user data from your backups.
