Inability to access Lubuntu

Asked by shash7833

I am a new comer to Lubuntu and am non-technical. I need help with the following:

after a recent update of Lubuntu ver 14.X, I am unable to get into Lubuntu. Just the screen saver page opens and I can do nothing. some people suggested some steps using the terminal. however, when i open the terminal, it is opening in a non-english keyboard . so i am unable to even loginto the terminal mode.

any help is highly welcome since i had several important files created.

please do reply to <email address hidden> if possible.

thanks

Nobody will reply to your email address. All posts will happen on the forum. The WHOLE idea of a forum is to share solutions so that more than one person benefits from the fix. They are not used to recruit someone to email directly.

If you boot an older kernel, is the system Ok?

Do you have Vivid installed now? Is the issue resolved?

I am unable to access my 14.x environment and hence cannot install anything. I did a new download and install of Lubuntu 15.x. Is it possible to access my files in the 14.x environment using 15.x?

If some of my responses are not correct, please bear with me. I am not technical.

If you are dual booting then yes. The file system is the same between the 2 releases so will work as you expect.

Thanks Andrew,

Can you kindly tell me what I should do from my 15.x installation to access my files in 14.x? From what I am doing, I am unable to see them.

Regards
