Physically Exchange Disk 1 and Disk 2

Asked by tomdean

I have an older Ubuntu 12.04 installation on disk 1, with grub. Disk 1 is 500G.
I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on disk 2, also with grub, I think. Disk 2 is 500G.

When I first did this installation, and a few times since, I boot the older Ubuntu version and update grub.

Any use of apt that wants to update the linux image has problems, I think because of my weird configuration. Currently, disk 1 is not being used. I have an ASUS P9X79 motherboard with raid. I am thinking of going to raid 1.

I plan to physically swap disk 1 and disk 2.

I believe this should work, but, thought I would ask, in case there is some 'gotcha' I overlooked.
