can't install adobe flash on xubuntu

Asked by Jacob Kersey

ok i installed xubuntu on a old compaq deskpro en. ican connect to the internet but i need a flash player. I have tried to install the adobe flash player and even reviewed all the articles on how to do it but it dosn't seem to come up the same as with the stuff wrote about regular ubuntu. Also when i try to go the terminal all it does is resart the computer. I tried going into software sources, updates and clicking the required things but it will not let me click on them. Any ideas. I am currently home on leave from iraq and have to go back in a few days. I just want to get this working so my son can use it to surf the net on sites like nick.com

Install the following package with Synaptic (Applications -> System -> Synaptic): flashplugin-nonfree
With this you should play flash in firefox.

When you go to the terminal, the computer restarts, or just log out, so you have to log in again?
(I ask this, because last week I experienced a similar thing on a machine, just this always logged out.)

@ Urban- Here's a workaround.

Alt+F2
Type xterm
Hit Enter

This should work
