Can Ubuntu be installed on eeepc?

Hey, good news, my eeePC arrivedtoday after waiting nearly 4 weeks. I'm just finishing off the updates, had to recofigure my router, long story and I'm tempted to try Ubuntu or maybe Kubuntu. Has anyone here done it? Can it be done from a thumb-drive and can someone point me in the direction of a good tutorial?
