Thanks. but it did not work. I need to open xls/xlsx/ods files by double click on it in Ubuntu. While go thru file property and then open with option, it does not show open office in other application list. Terminal command was also not working.

When you right click on a xls/xlsx/ods file, can you select "openoffice calc" in the 'other applications' list, or can you add "openoffice calc" as additional program, similar to what is shown in http://itsfoss.com/add-application-list-open-applications-ubuntu-1310/ ?

By the way, why are you wanting to use openoffice? The standard office package for Ubuntu nowadays is no more called openoffice, but it is libreoffice now.
