Not able to install ubuntu on freedos

Asked by surat pyari

I have downloaded .iso file on Mac OS-X and copied it into a pen drive. I plugged in pen drive on the system I wish to install on. It has FREEDOS. while boot I press F12. It opens boot manager. I select my USB drive to boot. But when i press enter It again opens the freeDOS instead of installer.

Please guide what I am doing wrong.

Just simple copying of the .iso file to the pendrive does not work. You have to write the .iso file to the pendrive in a special way that the installer can be booted from the pendrive.
See http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx for instructions how to do that on OS-X (note that this will overwrite all data that are currently stored on that pendrive)
