I want to restore ubuntu to the way it was when I first installed it.

Asked by s1LeNtDaY

I just got ubuntu and started messing around. I messed up something with the visual effects and I just want to know how to make it just like it was when I first installed it. Please provide clear step by step instructions as I am a new Linux user. I have heard something about doing a "Clean Re-install" but I have no idea how to go about doing this.

using your live cd use the option to "guided" when you are installing this will wipe your whole disk .

if you have any mp3 or picture files youll want to save them to disk to install later

the first thing you need to do is go into your system at startup

f1 f2 f8 f10 whatever the command on your machine

go to boot and change the order for hard drive 1 cd 2 floopy 3 to read 1 cd 2 hard drive 3 floppy or disabled

exit and save changes this will allow you to read the cd instead of your hard drive
