Ubuntu & iPod compatibility

Asked by Brutal_Moose

I am a novice at Linux. If you have an answer or advice to my question, please give me the full explanation, so that I may understand it. Please do not omit any steps in the instructions, or I may not be able to complete them. I cannot make decisions or choices for myself on Linux.

     Ubuntu 15.04 laptop
     iPod classic

My goal is to feasibly manage my iPod on Ubuntu. I have tried 4 programs:

     Banshee
     Gtkpod Manager
     Rhythymbox Music Player
     Gmusicbrowser

I had the same issue with each of these programs: none of them would detect my iPod. To confirm that my iPod was mounted to Ubuntu, I went to main menu, (is it called Dash?) > Disks, and viewed that my iPod was detected, mounted, and in a healthy state. I am dual booting, and am able to manage my iPod in Windows 8.1 iTunes without any.....unique problems.
