Email Virus? in Evolution

Asked by srikumar

There are a number of emails received with the title " no subject". When the first of these emails are received evolution jams up and does not respond; it cannot even be closed. On re-booting and opening evolution a number of emails, 4 to 7 emails, with the title "no subject" is received. On preview mode this email is blank. Sometimes there is an error message (in bright yellow colour) stating "unknown background activity" in evolution. The evolution program then jams up and cannot even be exited. The computer has to be re-booted.

Is this some virus that someone is sending?. It has been going on for more than a month.

What is to be done?. How to proceed?
Thank you.

Could you remove the email using a web ui to the service (web-mail) which would then replicate to the client?

I am waiting for the "no subject" emails to appear again and will delete it using web-mail. Will get back to you once this has been done.

I cannot understand "which would then replicate to the client?" Does this happen automatically or is there some special way to do this.

Thank you.

Just open the client. I'm assuming that it sees you deleted the mail on the service and replicates the change on the data on your system.

I have stopped using Evolution and and installed Thunderbird, since it is also the default email application.
Hence this question may be closed.

Thank you for the support.
