Error messages installing on a virtual PC

Asked by JKnutson

I running Win XP Pro on a HP m7750n machine with an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core processor 5200. I am trying to install Ubunta in a Windows Virtual PC. When I use the 64 bit version, after loading the Linux Kernel, I get the following message: "Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32 bit distribution". When I use the 32 bit version I get the following message: "[22599.606259] isapnp: checksum for devise 1 is not valid (0x89).
This is the first time I have attempted to install Linux and I will appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks in advance.

After I press F6 for Options and enter "i8042.noloop" the kernel loads and I get the same error messages.
