USB Mass Storage connection for Motorola Razr Maxx

Asked by Phil Norisez

I am up to date (26/5/2015) on updates to 12.04 LTS. Previously, my Motorla Razr Maxx smartphone connected as a mass storage device and was mounted with two mountpoints, one for the internal RAM and one for the SD Card. Now I plug it in, and nothing. Are there any suggestions as to how to fix this, short of upgrading to a later version?

When you unplug the phone on USB, do you use the safe remove feature in the OS before physically unplugging the device?

Yes. Note: it works OK on Win7.

Are there any messages in the system logs for that device?

Plug in the smartphone, wait 30 seconds and then issue the command in a terminal

dmesg | tail

What does it show?

@mhampl The following shows output from dmesg|tail -50, to get plenty of records for your analysis. I'm not sure if the memory corruption reported has anything to do with it.

SEE ALSO 279679, in which I reported:

Used to connect my now-bricked droid maxx via USB and get 2 fs, 1 for internal 1 for SD. With maxx HD can't see it at all. What's problem & how fixed? Win 10 sees it as one drive with 2 root directories. - sent from the maxx HD.

This is a not-quite-duplicate of a question I asked back in May. I am now asking about my Maxx HD.
