Home folder is stuck on my desktop

Asked by Bob

I powered up and find my home folder on my desktop. How do I move it back to where it is? I've tried to open the files and drag and drop it back, but that did not work and I know I should not deleate it that would be a bad thing. I like to keep my desktop clean so I can see the photos I've set for it. After all thats why I have the dock and cairo-dock, for all the things I need handy. can anyone help?

Looks like they're all old answers
1
apps > nautilus > preferences > ( desktop_is_home_dir set to TRUE <is not there)
Ubuntu Tweak. On Desktop, ( click on Desktop Icon Setting < is not there)
2 tells me how to put fils on my desktop not to move them back.
3 dconf Editor - instructions do not work the path is different from what it  shows
 dconf Editor
Then go to org > mate > caja > preferences
                             there is no "mate"
