Ubuntu taking over 24 hours to upgrade to 15.04

Ubuntu has been upgrading to 15.04 for over 24 hours now. Is there a way to cancel the upgrade or restart it. How long should I wait before commencing a hard restart? Are there any other fixes for this problem? In the meantime I appear to be unable to streM media or update and add media. So far I have not taken any steps to solve this problem as I do not want to corrupt the media I have on have system. Advice regarding this matter would be much appreciated. Regards. James.

Could end the application and restart the process. You may need to free up the dpkg lock file with a command but see if you can just restart it.
