No video player in Firefox

Asked by ealthuis

I have Firefox 38.01 installed, have no video player.

On the same computer in VirtualBox Firefox plays videos without hesitation.
This is also true of Desktops with Firefox 38.01.

What am I missing, what to do to have the videos play in Firefox on this version of Ubuntu 14.04.2?

This is the message I get after a faultless installation of the above command:

This browser does not support the video format needed for playback. Please install the Flash Player or use a different browser.

This in reference to this browser I am using (Firefox 39,01)

After shutting down the computer and restarting, Firefox video worked as expected.

Thank you actionparship once again.
