I tried to scale monitor resolution, and now the monitor won't show anything anymore.

Tried to scale my display using

xrandr --mode 1920x1080 --scale 0.8x0.8 and now my monitor doesn't show anything anymore, any recommendations how to revert a setting? I can't see anything on the computer though which makes things difficult.

I booted from a disk and everything works fine in there, so it's not a monitor problem.

Do you see some BIOS messages during booting, and the grub menu, or is the screen black from start to end?
