Need pdf program to load multi files and search all

Am using PDF Xchange and like it, but it will not run in 14.04. Have gone back to 1204 and it runs. It uses Wine to run.
Is there a Ubuntu program that will do the same. I need to load 50 files, and search all files. Then extract individual pages as PDF
PDF Xchange in very fast but too expensive
