ubuntu 14.04 on hp 2133 very slow

Asked by mark

Hi Ubuntu

I installed ubuntu 14.04 lts on hp 2133. By Installing ubuntu 14.04 lts it cause no problem at all, but when I reboot it then everything is very slow, like I have to wait for 3 min. or longer for every activation. I installed compiz and and uncheck vblank. And everything got faster but still there is still some lagging, like opening a application takes 30 sec or longer. I can't work properly on libreoffice writer.

At booting screen I see this code: [17.522306] longhaul: Option “enable” not set. Aborting.

The sound at my speaker does not work only headset.

Is there some ways to solves this errors?

Yeah I thought it was one of those VIA Chrome things. Your GPU cannot perform 3D acceleration under Linux so the rendering of the desktop is being offloaded to the CPU.

I suggest you switch from Gnome to a lightweight desktop with no 3D necessity like XFCE (sudo apt-get install xfce4) or LXDE (sudo apt-get install lxde). You will find the system runs a lot smoother.

You will need to log off then login to the new session.

I was unable to install XFCE so I installed LXDE I logged off and reboot the system and there is no change at all.
