Firefox won't play Google Play or 4 on demand TV but will play other flash based video sites (you tube, bbc)

Asked by Sam Hollis

I can play you tube and bbc i player with no problem on this laptop using firefox and ubuntu 14.04. However I cannot play channel 4 on demand Tv or movies from google play. I understand this is a DRM issue. I tried the solution here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2074459

However this version of Ubuntu appears to not let me install HAL. I have the universe repositary enabled. I am now unsure where to go next with this problem. I have installed Chrome and have the same problem.

When trying to play with google play I get the error message "enable 3rd party cookies" (they are enabled). Using 4oD I get the problem that the video never gets beyond just having the loading icon permanently rotating.

Thanks

Sorry, try again.

Trying to keep HAL alive for a little longer, mostly because I watch flash videos that use DRM, and flash needs HAL for that to work.

There are two more commands to execute

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install hal
